Description
Shakespeare knew what he was doing when he selected the beautiful northern Italian city of Verona as the setting for his play about those two famous lovers Romeo and Juliet. This place absolutely oozes romance and it's difficult not to get completely caught up in the feeling of relaxed enjoyment of your surroundings as you wander the streets of the old town. The area around the perfectly preserved Roman Bridge, the Ponte Pietra, which has straddled the Adige River for more than 2000 years, is probably my favourite part of the city. It's a real joy to sit quietly by the river as the sun goes down, people watch and marvel at the history around you. The campanile and dome of San Giorgio in Braida, a 16th Century church, can be seen on the left of the image. Verona Italy Ponte Pietra has added textures to compliment the vintage feel of the scene.
